The exquisite art of hand polishing, a virtually lost art, inspired this one-of-a-kind pistol’s name. The mirror-like finish reflects the highest possible level of refinement for finishing steel. One talented Cabot gunsmith meticulously, painstakingly polished the Duality 1911 for several days to achieve its two-micron-level polish, all by hand over progressive steps, the only method to keep flats flat and edges sharp.
Mankind has been enamored of their reflection for millennia. Mirrors have been unearthed and dated as early as 8000 BC. The history of mirrors is fascinating, with metals being among the earliest mirror materials. Early civilizations from Asia to the Middle East to Europe all coveted the ability to perceive how their outward appearance aligned with their inner being. But this gave rise to myth and legend, warning us that both the living and the dead could be trapped by the sparkling reflections we so craved.
And while science reassures us that mirrors offer a multitude of modern functions—from harnessing the power of the sun to exploring the depths of our universe—we still feel a shiver of anticipation, equal parts magic and reality, when we gaze at ourselves in any reflective surface.
And so it is with this unique 1911, featuring a full dust cover design and unique President’s Cut front end, which creates an elegant angle at the pistol’s nose. This elegance is further enhanced by the distinctive scrollwork of the Cabot logo that adds its own regal touch of sophistication.
The monolithic upper, a mirror in stainless steel, is paired with an equally beautiful lower finished in our proprietary Plasma Black Ice DLC coating. These contrasting elements define the Duality’s hand-polished finish and showcase the best of all worlds with a dark-to-bright theme, each refined to perfection.
The pistol is distinctively complimented by the Duality’s exquisite grips, machined, etched and polished in-house from exceptional stainless Damascus steel. The trigger provides a solid interface for the shooter’s finger as it rests upon the rarest of Damascus components possible in a pistol. Further refinements include Cabot’s trademark star engraved on the front surface of the guide rod and a gleaming diamond set in a golden circlet, fit for a titan of industry.
