The Empire Damascus Pistol Set, crafted from 120 layers of Artisan forged stainless steel, sets another record for the most extensive use of Damascus steel in the construction of the 1911.
Back in 2013, Cabot Guns was the first 1911 producer to employ Artisan forged Damascus Steel in a gun we simply called, The Damascus. It was a single pistol, and the extent of the use of Damascus was limited to the slide. That gun set a record for the highest price paid for a new non-engraved handgun. Since that first foray into Damascus, we have forged forward in the use of folded steels, and have become the world’s leading experts in cutting and finishing of Damascus Steel.
It’s rare to have a pistol made with a single component, such as a slide made of Damascus steel. It is almost impossible to have a single pistol made with a Damascus slide and a Damascus receiver. The Empire Damascus Pistol Set is not one, but two Damascus pistols with Damascus uppers, lowers, AND small parts. Further, the set has a standard right hand 1911 and it’s mate is a completely inverted left-hand pistol, pushing the boundaries in Damascus even further.
We can share that the construction of the small parts in Damascus steel is as much, or more work, than making both a slide and receiver from Damascus Steel.
Yet, Damascus was not enough to make a mirror image set of pistols fit for a Titan of industry. 4.5 billion-year-old Gibeon meteorite was employed to craft grips, triggers, sights, and base pads. Each of these components are hand etched to reveal the crystalline Widmanstatten pattern created in nature by the slow cooling of the meteorite as it traveled in orbit between Mars and Jupiter over hundreds of millions of years.
Mechanically perfect. Aesthetically unmatched. These two phrases are used to describe The Empire Damascus Pistol Set.
