We are pleased to present a small batch offering of 10 pistols featuring exceptional artisan Damascus triggers—forged from Lake Champlain cannonballs by Ray Rybar and Robert Eggerling, then finished by Cabot artisans—along with British Colonial Half-Pennies transformed into front sights. These meaningful pieces of history inspired the creation of the America 250 MAX. The pistols bear custom serial numbers 250MAX-1 through 250MAX-10.
Our inaugural double-stack 1911, the Insurrection, provides the frame for the America 250 MAX—a name that fittingly honors the 1776 insurrection that gave birth to the greatest nation in the world. The America 250 MAX unites this frame with the stylized slide, front sight, and trigger from the original America 250, resulting in a powerful double-stack tribute to our nation’s founding.
Limited to just 10 pistols, the America 250 MAX is the final offering in our Semiquincentennial collection.
The slide itself is precision-machined from 100 percent American-made billet stainless steel and adorned with an intricately engraved eagle motif. The bald eagle, proposed by Pennsylvania scholar William Barton and formally adopted upon the Great Seal in 1782, reflected the founders’ admiration for the virtues of the Roman Republic and their aspirations for a free people governing themselves. Though Benjamin Franklin famously favored the turkey, the eagle endured as the nation’s symbol, bearing an olive branch and thirteen arrows as emblems of peace and collective strength.
The America 250 MAX begins with a powerful artifact—a four-pound cannonball recovered from Lake Champlain in the 1950s. Once cast to serve the British Empire during the Revolutionary War, this iron relic has been transformed by master craftsmen into a lasting tribute to American independence.
Lake Champlain was a vital waterway in 1776, where Benedict Arnold’s outnumbered fleet delayed a superior British force at Valcour Island. That hard-fought delay bought precious time for the Continental Army and helped preserve the dream of independence. The cannonball stands as a silent witness to that defining struggle.
Cabot entrusted the historic iron to blacksmith Ray Rybar, who refined it into usable carbon steel, and then to legendary Damascus artisan Robert Eggerling, who forged it into exquisite patterned billets. From this material emerged the pistol’s trigger—deep-etched to showcase the Damascus and finished in brilliant Nitre Blue.
Now part of the America 250 MAX, this transformed piece of history rests beneath the shooter’s finger. With every press, it reconnects us to the founding generation, carrying forward the spirit of American liberty for the next 250 years.
The spirit of transformation extends throughout the entire pistol. Inspired by the events of July 9, 1776, when patriots in New York toppled the 4,000-pound statue of King George III and melted its lead into ammunition for the Continental cause, Cabot has crafted the copper bead front sights from authentic British Colonial Half Pennies that circulated under the King’s authority during the Revolution. What once represented imperial rule now serves as a guiding point of aim – a fitting tribute to the resolve of those who forged a new nation.
The America 250 MAX is presented in a custom made case by Low Pro Cases, a veteran owned business, proudly made in America and designed to honor the pistol’s legacy. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this case securely holds the pistol and its accessories in place, ensuring both protection and an elegant display. This is not just a case—it’s a statement of prestige, safeguarding your symbol of triumph with unmatched style and security.
As America approaches its 250th year of independence, the America 250 MAX Limited Edition stands as more than a firearm—it is a tribute to the vision, sacrifice, and perseverance that forged a nation.
